Gender based violence
In the Icelandic legislation Gender based violence is defined as violence on the base of gender that leads to or has the possibility to lead to, physical, sexual or psychological damages or pain for the victim.Gender based violence also includes threats on violence, any type of gender based coercion or deprivation of freedom both in the private and the public sector.
Gender based violence is a terrible menace that deprives individuals of their human rights and their basic freedom that everyone is in title to.
Everybody has the right to seek help and assistance for violence and it is important to remember that violence is never the victims fault!
